MEN?S GARMENT MEASUREMENTS

HELPFUL MEASURING TIPS
A. Give usual store size in clothing.
B. Always measure waist, store sizes can run differently.
C. Never measure yourself. Have someone measure for you.
D. Always use cloth tape measure.

1.Neck, measure a shirt collar that fits you.
2.Measure across upper chest from armhole seam to armhole seam.
3.Mid chest – measure across breasts from armhole seam to armhole seam.
4.Mid abdomen – starting under the arms, measure side seam to side seam.
5.Waist - 1A. Measure side seam to side seam. - 1B. Measure completely around.
6.Measure nape of neck to mid-thigh (for early 18th century waistcoat).
7.Measure across upper back armhole to armhole.
8.Measure mid-back, armhole to armhole.
9.Measure back at mid abdomen level, under arm, side seam to side seam.
10.Measure back waist measurements, side seam to side seam.
11.Upper arm circumference.
12.Measure at top of shoulder (where armhole seam would be) to elbow.
13.With arm bent, measure from tip of elbow to wrist.
14.Measure from base of neck (on the side) across the top to the shoulder seam.
15.Measure from the front waist, through the crotch and up to the back waist (for breeches, pants).
16.Measure around mid thigh (for breeches, pants).
17.Measure crotch to 2" below the knee (breeches).
18.Measure largest part of calf (breeches & pants).
19.Measure crotch to ankle (pants).
20.Measure base of throat to mid thigh (early 18th century waistcoat).
21.Measure from base of throat to 2" above knee (for coat).
22.Measure from base of neck to 2" above knee, at back of leg (for coat).
23.Measure from under arm (at armhole seam) to 1 1/2" below waistline (for long & short waistcoats, and civilian and formal coats).
24.Measure from nape of neck to 1 1/2" below back waistline (for long and short waistcoats, and civilian and formal coats).
